The Bonsai Society of Greater Cincinnati Our beginner’s class offers a learning experience designed to equip you with a basic understanding of the art of bonsai, a short history, and a bit of philosophy, followed by a demonstration and basic information on choosing plants, tools, and products. You will be provided a tree, pot, wire and soil so you can begin creating your own bonsai under the guidance of an experienced, talented and patient instructor. At the end of the class you will not only go home with a bonsai which you created on your own, but more importantly you will have enough information and hands on experience to serve as a solid foundation for learning more.
These classes are fun, relaxing, and a great way to meet other people who share an interest in this fascinating ancient art.
Class date: Saturday, June 13th 9am until 4pm. We will break 1 hour for lunch at 11:30am, please bring your own lunch.
The class is located at the Civic Garden Center, 2715 Reading Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Registration closes on May 9th so register early. We have a limited number of seats.
The cost of the class is $80.00
You can download a registration form from the home page of the BSGC website or please email Randy at rwhedon@cinci.rr.com and he will send you a registration form.[/font]

I am interested in a beginners class also. I just received a beautiful 12 y.o. ficus bonsai today that I think needs pruning and wire attention. Will there be another class soon? If not, do you have any recommendations of which files and/or newsletters or perhaps outside resources I should reference as help?

The Beginners Bonsai Class is offered once a year to the first enrollees to fill the class. If interested I would definitely recommend taking it. I took it 4-5 years ago and have been hooked ever since. All of the BSGC newsletters are available on our website www.cincinnatibonsai.com There are a ton of other informative websites with quality information regarding all types of bonsai. Please take a look at the links section of the BSGC website.
